From the recording Afterlife (Out Now)
The Story behind 'Afterlife':
Afterlife was inspired after seeing a close friend dancing at a party who, only a few hours earlier, had opened up to me for the first time about her struggles with depression. From this, the idea of writing a song tackling our relationship with repression and our personas was formed. I wanted to create a song that, on the surface, was very danceable and upbeat but, on further inspection, was shrouded in self doubt, anxiety and sadness. A song that musically represented repression.
Production:

Lyrics
V1:
Feeling alone where I should belong.
Saying I’m right, knowing I’m wrong.
So scared of what I’ve become.
PRE1:
What if you believe me?
I’ll just have to stay this way.
But, if you never leave me,
I can never get away.
CH1:
(Cause I’m)
Always pretending that I’m alright,
Never knowing the reason why.
On top of the world, flying so high,
I’m just living and afterlife.
Catch my reflection, see my disguise
In the window of my eyes.
My perfect lie, my paradise,
I'm still living an afterlife.
V2:
Screaming in silence, drowning in sound.
Hiding in love, I can’t be found,
I fall until I hit the ground.
PRE 2:
What if you believe me?
I’ll just have to stay this way.
But, if you never leave me,
I can never get away.
CH2:
(Cause I’m)
Always pretending that I’m alright,
Never knowing the reason why.
On top of the world, flying so high,
I’m just living and afterlife.
Catch my reflection, see my disguise
In the window of my eyes.
My perfect lie, my paradise,
I'm still living an afterlife.

CH3:
(Cause I’m)
Always pretending that I’m alright,
Never knowing the reason why.
On top of the world, flying so high,
I’m just living and afterlife.
Catch my reflection, see my disguise
In the window of my eyes.
My perfect lie, my paradise,
I'm still living an afterlife.
